The Pacific Crest Trail aka PCT

These books are my bibles they will help guide me from Mexico to Canada 2,700 miles.
I will Start in one country and finish in another.
I will pass through deserts and scale high peaks. I will ford dangerous creeks/rivers and snow covered passes.
I will traverse through 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas, and 7 national parks.
I hope to finish it all in under 83 days. I will be doing it as a team with my friend Julian from France. We are both so excited about our journey. We will start sometime in May depending on how much snow we get in the Sierras this winter.

Catra,

We met at Western back in June, once at the orientation meeting and then again at Hwy49 crossing. You gave me a fruit smoothie and it was great! I was pacing Carsten Solheim, the oldes finisher of Western this year!

Anyway, just wanted to tell you that I started CrossFit this week and am quite sure after a couple of intro sessions with the trainer that I am in for a total butt-whupping! Did you have any surprises when you started? I am totally blown away with my "weak" areas and how quickly they showed up...hopefully not for long!

Anyway, good luck in your planning for PCT. Being from Texas, I have only experienced a very small part of it, but it is an awesome place!

Take care,

Lynn

Hi Catra,

Just wondering if your trip will be self-supported or fully supported (with help from others)? Either way 83 days sounds like a serious goal and your trip will surely be a radical journey! If you and Julien need some help or company on the trail, when you are in Washington, let me know (poincenot(at)yahoo.com). I live in Seattle, have run some small segments of the PCT in Washington and dream of the day when I will be able to do the whole thing myself. The segments in the north cascades are the best! (I am biased).

This year I plan on visiting your stomping grounds and trying to do the JMT in 8 to 10 days of fastpacking. I am itching to run through the wilderness under a warm and cloud free sky. Oh wait, you get to do that all the time in CA, right! The weather here has been pretty miserable. I can't wait for next summer!

Hey jlynnbob-

I remember you!
Awesome job! You started crossfit! woo hoo!!!
Suprises, yep I had sore muscles where I didn't know I had muscles.
As the unused muscles get worked you will become less sore.
It has totally helped my running. Since starting it I fell stronger in my hundereds. I noticed at night in a hundred my body feels stronger. I use to fall apart at night. Not anymore thanks to crossfit making me strong.
Enjoy!

Hey Adam-
No help from others. We will have mail drops that we have to go off trail to get.
That's the differance between supported(David Horton) had people meet him with supplies at the trailheads and take him to a nice cozy bed at night.
We won't have a crew helping us. We may have people going out with us for a week or two at a time.
And if were in an area where my friends live they can bring me fruit. ;)
When I know our schedule I'll let you know and we can meet up.

Oh good for you, you will be heading out my trail JMT(my true love) :)
You will enjoy every inch of it.

That’s a journey of epic proportions….I like how you dream BIG and aren’t afraid to follow your dreams no matter where they take you! The beginning part near the US/Mexico boarder looks interesting, what a change of scenery it’s like a barren waste land very eerie with that border fence dividing the US form Mexico. Form the dessert to high mountains sounds wonderful

Trek onward girl!

You know what's funny? I was recently watching "The Runner" and I said "I could see Catra running this trail - and I'll bet she will some day". I had no idea... Count me in for joining you on some sections through SoCal if you are looking for company!
